How many times can you use a Brew-Saver™?

A lifetime! Brew-Savers™ are made out of stainless steel metal. Just keep them clean and you'll be fine to brew! Or for a more specific answer, the stainless spring steel door on the Brew-Saver™ has a bend capacity of around 10,000 uses. So even if you only had 3 lids, and had one cup of coffee a day, the Brew-Savers™ will last over 82 years! You can Will them to your children!

Don't the single serve cups have a hole in the bottom? Won't coffee leak out the hole in the bottom? Won't using this make more holes in the bottom? I'm confused about the hole in the bottom?

Each used coffee disposable cup has a filter inside of it that hangs above the bottom hole. The only thing that touches that bottom hole is your already brewed and filtered coffee. So if you have multiple holes in the bottom, the only thing that will happen is the coffee going into your mug quicker. It in no way affects how long the water brews in the filter bag hanging above it. In fact you don't even need a bottom to your cup and the coffee would still taste the same! Some people like to twist the cup gently in the machine to make it use the same hole each time, just so that if they pre-make their coffee's with the Brew-Saver™, not as much air will be able to get to the grinds.

How can these work more than once, doesn't the machine needle have to puncture the top?

Our Brew-Savers™ are equipped with a stainless spring steel door on the inside of the lid. When the single serve cup has the Brew-Saver™ on top and is placed in your machine, the needle will push open the Brew-Saver™ door and inject the water into your cup. The machine is then opened after your coffee is done, and the needle slides out with the Brew-Saver™ door closing behind it!

My Brew-Saver™ is very tough to clip on/doesn't clip onto the cup! Help! What's wrong?

Every brand of these single serve cups are a fraction different from each other in size. (Just put the same lid on different cups and you can see this.) When we created the Brew-Saver™ we made it to fit many brands of single serve cups. We tried to make them fit too snug if anything. We would rather a Brew-Saver™ being on the cups too tight instead of too loose. If it were too loose, the coffee would spill out in the process.

I would say the Van Houtte® coffee brand cups are the easiest to snap the lids onto. Every brand is very similar in size to work in the machine. Some of them take a few uses to be able to snap onto easily. The Brew-Saver™ will naturally shimmy the edges of a larger cup down to size, so that in a few uses they will snap on very easy! If you are still having problems, try a different brand of single serve cup with the Brew-Saver™.

How many times can I re-use a cup?

As many times as your comfortable with! I've used some of the cups well over 30 times! The filters in most cups are VERY durable. Just keep the Brew-Saver and cup very clean and you'll be fine!

How can I make hot chocolate?

Though the Brew-Saver can be useful for making hot chocolate it would be used the same as with any single serve cup for coffee. You would place the hot chocolate in a filterless used cup (preferably one you've had from another hot chocolate cup) and then put the Brew-Saver on top and brew as normal. Depending on your brand of hot chocolate, you can place the chocolate in the mug below and use the Brew-Saver as a splash-proof device on top of an single serve cup. This would in essence allow you to have hot water be expelled from your machine without any hot water shooting everywhere.

If they last forever...why do I need 5?

Some people like to pre-make their cups for the week, so they usually like more than one. Also if we only sold one lid per order it wouldn't be feasible with the shipping costs to offer free shipping.
